Sometimes diet and exercise just aren’t enough to address stubborn fat deposits, loose skin, or muscle definition. If you’re frustrated by areas that won’t respond to a healthy lifestyle, you have options that don’t require surgery or extended recovery time.
At Ziba Medical Spa in Eugene, we offer four proven non-surgical body contouring treatments, each designed to address different concerns. Our expert team performs these procedures under the guidance of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kiya Movassaghi, who oversees all treatment plans to promote optimal results and patient safety.
Quick-Reference Guide
- Choose CoolSculpting if: You’re at or near your ideal weight but have stubborn fat deposits that won’t respond to diet and exercise.
- Choose Pure Impact if: You want to add muscle definition and tone without spending hours at the gym.
- Choose Sofwave if: You’re concerned about mild skin laxity that affects your body contour.
- Choose Avéli if: Cellulite dimples are your primary concern, and you want a lasting solution that addresses the structural cause.
CoolSculpting: Permanent Fat Reduction Without Surgery
CoolSculpting delivers noticeable, lasting fat reduction without a single incision. CoolSculpting works through cryolipolysis—a cooling process that freezes stubborn fat cells until they can no longer survive. Once these cells break down, your body clears them away naturally over the next few weeks and months.
What CoolSculpting Can Treat
CoolSculpting can reduce fat on multiple areas of the body, including the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, upper arms, bra line, back fat, and double chin (using the CoolMini applicator).
We use CoolSculpting Elite at Ziba Medical Spa, which features updated applicators that can treat multiple areas simultaneously, cutting your appointment time in half if you’re addressing more than one area.
CoolSculpting Treatment and Recovery
Most CoolSculpting sessions take 35 to 60 minutes per area. During treatment, you might feel tugging, mild aching, or intense cold for the first few minutes, but the area becomes numb within 5 to 10 minutes. Many of our patients read, use their phones, or even nap during their session.
There’s no downtime with CoolSculpting. You can return to work and your regular activities immediately after treatment, though you should avoid strenuous exercise for a few days.
When You’ll See Results
Because CoolSculpting works by allowing your body to naturally process and eliminate fat cells, results appear gradually over 2 to 3 months. This gradual timeline means your change looks natural—nobody needs to know you had treatment unless you choose to share.
When your body clears away those treated fat cells, they don’t come back. If you maintain your weight, your CoolSculpting results can last indefinitely.
Ziba Medical Spa is recognized as a Crystal level practice by CoolSculpting manufacturer ZELTIQ Aesthetics, reflecting our expertise and experience with this treatment.
Pure Impact: Muscle Toning Without Exercise
While CoolSculpting addresses unwanted fat, Pure Impact targets muscle definition and tone. This FDA-cleared treatment uses advanced electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to engage muscle fibers, mimicking the effects of intense plyometric exercises without requiring you to work out.
How Pure Impact Works
Pure Impact uses PlyoPulse technology to deliver controlled electrical impulses through up to 16 electrodes placed on your treatment areas. These impulses trigger supramaximal contractions, which are muscle movements far more intense than you could achieve through voluntary exercise. Your muscles are forced to adapt, leading to increased strength, improved tone, and better definition.
The FDA has cleared Pure Impact for strengthening, toning, and firming four areas: the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and arms. Because Pure Impact can treat multiple areas at once, you might target your abdomen and thighs simultaneously, or combine your buttocks and arms in a single session.
Pure Impact Treatment and Recovery
Each Pure Impact session takes about 30 minutes. You’ll feel your muscles contracting throughout the session, but it’s generally comfortable. Afterward, there’s nothing stopping you from getting back to your day—no downtime needed.
To achieve optimal results, we typically recommend 4 sessions over 2 weeks. Maintenance treatments every 2 to 3 months can help you keep up your results. Pure Impact can be combined with other treatments at Ziba Medical Spa, such as Sofwave for skin tightening.
Sofwave: Skin Tightening for a Firmer Appearance
If you’re dealing with mild skin laxity—loose or sagging skin that can affect your overall silhouette—Sofwave offers a non-surgical solution to tighten and lift.
How Sofwave Works
Sofwave uses Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB) technology, which sends multiple ultrasound beams into the deeper layers of your skin, heating them to between 60 and 70°C.This thermal effect causes existing collagen to contract and stimulates your body to produce new collagen and elastin, which are the proteins responsible for keeping skin firm, smooth, and lifted.
While Sofwave is often used for facial rejuvenation, it’s also FDA-cleared to improve the appearance of skin laxity on the upper arms and can be used throughout the body to address loose skin.
Sofwave Treatment and Recovery
Sofwave treatments take 30 to 45 minutes. We apply a topical anesthetic before treatment to enhance your comfort, and the device’s integrated Sofcool technology keeps your skin’s surface protected while the deeper layers are heated. There’s zero downtime with Sofwave; any mild redness fades quickly, and you can return to work, exercise, or social activities immediately. You can even apply makeup right away.
You’ll start seeing subtle tightening within about a month of treatment. As your body produces new collagen, those improvements keep building, and most patients see their best results around the 3-month mark. Research shows Sofwave results typically last a year or more.

Avéli: Long-Lasting Cellulite Reduction
Cellulite affects approximately 90% of women and has historically been one of the most difficult cosmetic concerns to treat effectively. Topical creams and massage techniques may temporarily improve skin appearance, but they can’t address the root cause of cellulite: fibrous bands beneath the skin called septa. Avéli offers a different approach—directly targeting and releasing these septa bands for lasting cellulite reduction.

How Avéli Works
Unlike non-invasive treatments that work externally, Avéli is a minimally invasive procedure performed by Dr. Movassaghi in our Eugene office. Using local anesthesia, Dr. Movassaghi creates a very small incision and uses the Avéli device to precisely target and release the fibrous bands causing specific cellulite dimples. He watches in real time as each dimple is released, allowing for immediate, reliable improvement.
Avéli is FDA-cleared to treat cellulite on the buttocks and thighs—the areas where cellulite most commonly appears.
Avéli Treatment and Recovery
The Avéli procedure typically takes about an hour to complete. Dr. Movassaghi performs the treatment under local anesthesia, with the option of a mild sedative for additional comfort. If you opt for just local anesthesia, driving yourself home is no problem. Expect to resume your usual activities within 24 to 48 hours. You may experience temporary mild pain and bruising, which resolve on their own. We’ll recommend wearing a light compression garment for a few days and avoiding strenuous activities while you heal.
Once any residual swelling or bruising subsides (typically within one month) you’ll be able to appreciate your smoother skin contour. Because Avéli directly releases the structural cause of cellulite dimples, results are long-lasting. Clinical studies show cellulite reduction lasting at least a year after treatment.
Avéli can easily be combined with other non-surgical body contouring procedures, or even surgical options such as a tummy tuck or a mommy makeover, allowing you to consolidate your recovery period.
