Laser hair removal at Ziba Medical Spa, a physician-led medical spa in Eugene gives you back a small piece of every morning. You spend less time at the sink with a razor, and you have nothing to grow out before your next appointment.
Register-Guard readers have voted us Best Medical Spa multiple times. Every treatment here begins the same way. Before anything is switched on, your advanced medical aesthetician takes a good look at your skin and your hair, then chooses the optimal settings for you.
We treat with Clarity II, a medical-grade platform with IntelliTrak built in. IntelliTrak follows the handpiece as it moves across your skin, so larger areas like legs and backs take less time than they used to.
Treatment at a glance:- Two laser wavelengths, so your aesthetician can match the laser to your skin tone, from the very fairest to the deepest
- IntelliTrak tracking, so a full-leg session takes less of your afternoon
- Cooling with every pulse
- Razor bumps and ingrown hairs are treatable, because the laser goes after the cause
- A board-certified plastic surgeon involved in our patients’ care every day
- Little-to-no downtime, so most people go straight back to their day
How laser hair removal works
Most of us have unwanted hair, but shaving can be time-consuming and even leave painful bumps and rashes. Waxing is a longer-lasting alternative, but it too can be unpleasant and messy—and you have to repeat the task every month or so. There’s a better solution: laser hair removal.
By destroying the hair follicle with a highly focused beam of energy, laser hair removal ensures the hair won’t grow back, leaving your skin smooth and hair-free for years to come.
“Everyone in this office is so kind and easy to work with… Their laser hair removal actually works and you will see a big difference after just a few treatments. Can’t say enough about the quality of the service you receive at this business or the people providing it.”

Laser hair removal for every skin tone
Clarity II carries two wavelengths, which is another way of saying it can send two different kinds of light into your skin. Having both is what lets us treat the full range of skin tones. The shorter wavelength, 755 nm Alexandrite, suits lighter skin and finer hair. The longer one, 1064 nm Nd:YAG, is absorbed less by melanin, the pigment that gives your skin its color. That makes it our choice for deeper skin tones.
Your advanced medical aesthetician picks the wavelength and the settings at your skincare evaluation, once they have looked closely at your skin and your hair.
Razor bumps and ingrown hairs
Razor bumps and ingrown hairs have a clinical name, pseudofolliculitis barbae, and they are one of the reasons people come to us for laser hair removal. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength on Clarity II is cleared to treat pseudofolliculitis barbae across Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI. That is the scale dermatology uses for skin tone, and it runs from the very fairest skin to the deepest. Reducing the hair reduces the bumps at their source, so laser hair removal treats the cause of the irritation rather than the aftermath.
If shaving keeps leaving your neck or your jawline sore, say so at your evaluation. Razor bumps are treatable, and they are worth mentioning even if they feel minor.
Am I a good candidate?
Laser hair removal may suit you if you are tired of shaving or waxing an area, and you can commit to a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart.

Hair grows in cycles, and a laser only affects hair that is actively growing at the moment of treatment. That is why a series is necessary.
Several medications and health conditions affect whether laser hair removal is right for you, and when it should be scheduled. Recent sun exposure and a fresh tan matter too.
Please bring your full health history to your evaluation, along with everything you take. Your advanced medical aesthetician will go through it with you. That is what settles whether this is the right treatment, and whether now is the right time.
Why a physician-led medical spa matters
A physician’s oversight is essential to your safety. Treatments such as Botox, dermal filler, and laser can carry real risk in inexperienced hands. Med spas are subject to minimal regulation, and may be under a physician’s supervision only on paper rather than in practice.
Ziba Medical Spa sits inside Movassaghi Plastic Surgery, and Dr. Kiya Movassaghi is actively involved in our patients’ care on a daily basis. He is a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience and a national reputation in aesthetics. That daily involvement gives our patients a high standard of non-surgical cosmetic care.
Which areas can laser hair removal treat?
Ziba Medical Spa treats these areas with Clarity II:
- Face: upper lip, chin, jawline, and cheeks
- Neck and beard line, including for pseudofolliculitis barbae
- Underarms
- Arms and forearms
- Chest, abdomen, and back
- Bikini and Brazilian
- Legs, full or lower
Clarity II treats concerns other than hair as well. If sun spots and uneven tone are also on your mind, our laser treatment for sun spots page covers that work, and visible facial and leg veins are covered on our laser vein treatment page. Lines, scars, and texture call for our laser skin resurfacing treatment.
What a session at Ziba is like
You will wear protective eyewear throughout. Your advanced medical aesthetician moves the handpiece over the area while a burst of coolant fires with each pulse. It feels like a quick snap against the skin, then cold, over and over, in a rhythm most people settle into quickly.
Afterward your skin looks a little pink and feels warm, much like mild sun exposure, and you can go straight back to whatever the rest of your day holds. You will leave with full aftercare instructions written for the area we treated. Sun protection on treated skin is part of every set.
“From the moment you enter Dr. Movassaghi’s office, you are welcomed by their cheerful staff. Dr. Movassaghi is someone who really listens to your needs/wants and makes you laugh along the way. Rachel, the laser hair removal technician makes you feel incredibly comfortable and is amazing at her job. I look forward to my appointments because of her sweet and kind demeanor.”
What our new laser changes about your appointment
Ziba Medical Spa replaced its original Clarity laser with Clarity II in 2026. Both use the same two wavelengths, so the science has not changed. What changed is how your appointment feels and how long it takes.
IntelliTrak is why a full-leg or full-back session moves faster than it used to. Coverage is steadier, too. Our previous laser relied on each pulse being placed by hand, with the overlap judged by eye. IntelliTrak follows the handpiece as it moves and holds that overlap steady on its own.
Fine, light hair is harder for any laser to reach, and this is where Clarity II helps. It can fire a pulse as short as one millisecond, a setting suited to finer hair. Whether your own hair is a good candidate is something we assess at your evaluation.
Cooling is most of what makes the treatment comfortable. A burst of coolant hits your skin just before each pulse. Clarity II also displays your skin’s surface temperature as the treatment goes on, so your advanced medical aesthetician can adjust as your skin responds.
“Casey McNabb has changed the way I feel about my face and body with her treatments for brown red spots the hydro facial and laser hair removal. I cannot say enough about the professionalism from her skill level. She is a perfectionist thru and thru.”

Start with a skincare evaluation. An advanced medical aesthetician will look at your hair and your skin, then talk you through what a series would involve. You will hear how many sessions it would take, over how long, and whether it is worth it for the area you have in mind.
