Sofwave is Here: What to Know About the Needle-Free Lift

Ready to give your skin a smoother, firmer look without surgery, needles, or downtime? Sofwave® skin tightening is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments that lifts the brow, jawline, neck, and more in a single session.

Sofwave is now available at our Eugene medical spa, and below, we explain how the zero-downtime technology works, why celebrities love it, and answer the most-asked questions about non-surgical tightening so you can decide if it’s the right refresh for you.

How Does Sofwave Work?

Sofwave® is an FDA-cleared, non-surgical treatment that sends ultrasound beams (SUPERB™ technology) into the mid-dermis to safely heat the skin. This jump-starts fresh collagen and elastin production (the proteins that keep your skin firm and plump). Meanwhile, the Sofcool™ contact cooling protects the skin’s surface and minimizes discomfort.

Most patients see subtle tightening around four weeks after treatment, and peak lift around 12 weeks, as new collagen matures. Planning a big event? Book at least three months ahead so your glow is in full effect.

Key Benefits You’ll Notice

Sofwave skin tightening in Eugene has several stand-out advantages that have earned the device a place at our award-winning medical spa:

Lifts & Firms Multiple Areas

Sofwave contracts existing collagen fibers and builds new support at the precise depth where laxity begins within the skin. Once the collagen regeneration process completes, the new collagen layers visibly lift the skin.

This works effectively in several key areas of the face and body, including the:

  • Forehead
  • Brow line
  • Under-eye area
  • Cheeks
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Submental area (under the chin)
  • Chest (décolletage)
  • Arms
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Knees

Fast, Comfortable Visits

Your Sofwave treatment at Ziba Medical Spa takes only 30 to 45 minutes. We apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable throughout the treatment as we glide the Sofwave handpiece across the treatment area. Along with the numbing cream, the built-in cooling system minimizes discomfort on the surface of your skin.

Because each pulse treats a wide section of the skin at once, we can cover the full face and neck in the time it takes to grab lunch, making Sofwave easy to fit into busy schedules.

Zero Downtime

After your Eugene Sofwave treatment, you may have some mild post-treatment redness that fades within the hour. You will not have any aftercare instructions to follow and no social downtime—go straight to work, the gym, or dinner. Makeup and sunscreen can be applied right away, so your routine stays uninterrupted.

Safe for Every Skin Tone, Any Season

Because ultrasound energy bypasses the epidermis (the skin’s top layer), Sofwave carries virtually no risk of pigment change or burns, even in deeper Fitzpatrick skin tones. And because the skin’s surface is not disturbed, you can receive Sofwave treatments year-round, including summer months (when lasers may be off the table to avoid UV damage in healing surface tissues).

Why A-Listers Swear by Sofwave

Sofwave has quietly become the non-surgical skin-tightening tool that red-carpet dermatologists recommend—and their celebrity patients keep re-booking. Well-known names who have shared their own experiences include:

  • Kim Kardashian – Incorporates Sofwave into her routine to keep facial contours and her silhouette firm without interrupting a packed schedule, commenting on her Instagram stories that it’s “Probably the best machine out there for lifting and collagen production…There’s no downtime. And totally lifts, which is why I would do it everywhere I possibly could lol.”
  • Khloé Kardashian – Uses Sofwave head-to-toe for a subtle lift across the face and body, and shared with her social media following, “I am basically doing my entire body and face, because why not? We want that! And what’s so cool about it, it has this amazing applicator, it doesn’t break or damage the skin, there’s no downtime and it’s basically like a biostimulant. It’s going to be repairing your collagen for the next six to 12 months.”
  • Sarah Jessica Parker – Chooses Sofwave as her go-to in-office procedure to complement her at-home skincare routine to age confidently while avoiding injectables. She wasn’t shy about sharing her aesthetic treatments in an interview with British Vogue: “I talk about the things I do, which is Sofwave. It’s great, but it hurts. I used to do glycolic peels at the dermatologist, too.”

When celebrity skin experts trust a device enough to use it on clients who are constantly photographed in 4K, you know the technology delivers. That same physician-backed confidence is now available at our Eugene medical spa, so you can enjoy the proven lift and collagen boost A-listers and influencers rely on.

FAQs About Sofwave & Non-Surgical Skin Tightening

Since announcing Sofwave, we’ve gotten several questions from patients about the technology and if non-surgical skin tightening is an option for them. Here are some of the most-asked questions and their answers:

Can Sofwave tighten the crepey skin on my upper arms?

Yes. The device’s clearance explicitly includes improvement of skin laxity on the upper arms, making it one of the few energy-based options with an FDA-recognized body indication.

How soon after treatment can I put on makeup, and when is it safe to restart my retinol?

You may reapply sunscreen or makeup right away. Resume active ingredient skincare (retinol, tretinoin, vitamin C) after 24 hours to avoid irritation while deeper skin layers heal after treatment.

Can Sofwave help with pitted acne scars on my cheeks?

Yes. The current FDA indication list includes treatment of acne scars, and research shows that dermal-level ultrasound heat can remodel tethered scar tissue for a smoother surface with little downtime.

What’s the ideal age to start Sofwave?

Collagen loss begins in our 30s, and we typically see the most noticeable lift from Sofwave in patients under about age 60—before excess, redundant skin would respond better to surgery. Still, healthy older candidates can benefit from a mild skin-tightening treatment with Sofwave, if desired.

How soon before a wedding or class reunion should I book?

We recommend getting treatment at least 12 weeks in advance to let peak collagen remodeling kick in. The collagen regeneration process will continue for up to a year.

I just had dermal fillers; how long should I wait before (or after) Sofwave?

We generally advise a two-week buffer on either side of any filler or Botox® appointment to minimize swelling interactions and ensure each treatment settles in the right tissue plane.

Does Sofwave really smooth cellulite on my thighs and buttocks?

It does. The FDA cleared Sofwave for “improvement in the appearance of cellulite,” backed by a study in which reviewers saw visible smoothing in nearly 90% of treated thighs and buttocks after two sessions. At Ziba, we also offer Avéli cellulite reduction, so we can talk with you about the advantages of each option.
